Íslendingabók tells the earliest history of the Icelanders, written by Ari Þorgilsson in the early 12th century. At the yearly assembly at the Althing in 999/1000, the questions and disagreements regarding beliefs, custom and law between the Heathens and the Christians creates a disturbance of the peace.
