Note to Gusi Lv 4VIII (Ket 8)

[2] eggþrumu ‘blade-thunder [BATTLE]’: The cpd eggþruma is a hap. leg, but it has a close parallel and synonym in eggþrima (LP: eggþrima, 2. egg and egg-, 2. þruma); both egg ‘cutting edge, blade’ and þruma ‘thunder, noise’ are well-attested as determinant and base-word respectively of kennings for ‘battle’. Cf. Ket 4/6 and Note.
