[All]: This st. occurs in 32 mss though eds have usually rejected it as a later addition. Certainly it adds nothing to st. 82, but as Bugge observes, this is not an adequate reason for deleting it. It imposes on the poem the dream-framework common in literary and in later medieval visions (Dinzelbacher 1981, 229-65).
