[3] tognings ‘of the sword’: Hap. leg. See Falk 1914, 62. The word means ‘that which is drawn, pulled’ and is related etymologically to toginn ‘pulled’, p. p. of a strong verb (Gmc *teuhan ‘pull’; see AEW: tog) no longer extant in ON.
