Note to Anon Mdr 37VII

[4] sígrblóm ‘victory-flower’: Rydberg adopted Jón Sigurðsson’s suggestion for reconstruction to blóm here (marginal n. to 444ˣ). Both sigrblóm and ljómi trúar ‘beam of faith’ are probably epithets for the Virgin Mary (on Mary images with flower words as base, see Schottmann 1973, 23-34, and 38-46 for those with ljós or ljómi).
