[All]: Óláfr Tryggvason was killed at the battle of Svolder (on 9 September 1000) against Eiríkr jarl Hákonarson of Norway, King Óláfr sœnski ‘the Swede’ Eiríksson of Sweden and King Sveinn tjúguskegg ‘Forkbeard’ Haraldsson of Denmark. The location of Svolder has not been identified with certainty (see McDougall and McDougall 1998, 74-5 n. 113; Andersson 2003, 147 n. 1).
