[5-6] vöndr Viðris ‘the staff of Viðrir <= Óðinn> [SPEAR]’: On Viðrir as a name for Óðinn, see first Note to st. 25/10 above. Óðinn’s spear, elsewhere named Gungnir, is a prominent feature of traditions about him (Simek 1993, 124).
