[3] musterið ‘the church’: ON musteri ‘monastery, church, cathedral, temple’ is a loan-word from OFr moustier < Lat. monasterium, cf. OE mynster, OHG munstar; see AEW: mustari. According to Fritzner: mustari, the word denoted a church of importance with canonici regulares. Skj B translates it as tempel ‘temple’, which is hardly appropriate in the present context.
