Note to Anon Heildr 10VII

[4] fróns sólar ‘of the land of the sun’: Although the sky- or heaven-kenning frón sólar occurs elsewhere only in an anonymous helmingr on the Crucifixion quoted in Anon (FoGT) 6/2III to illustrate the figure of chronographia (SnE 1848-87, II, 196; TGT 1884-6, 123), heaven-kennings on the same model occur very frequently in Christian verse. Cf. land sólar ‘land of the sun’ (Leið 26/1-2); dags reitr ‘day’s patch of land’ (Líkn 32/6); sólar reitr ‘sun’s patch of land’ (Anon Lil 11/4).
