Note to ǪrvOdd Ævdr 66VIII (Ǫrv 136)

[7-8] ek lét þá báða snýta blóði ‘I gave both of them bloody noses’: Lit. ‘I caused them both to blow their noses with blood’. According to the prose saga (Ǫrv 1888, 154-5) Oddr forces both Sigurðr and Sjólfr down under water for so long that when they surface blood trickles from their noses.
