[2-3] en krókar stökkvi af stýri ‘and the clamps spring from the steering rudder’: These lines refer to the stern rudder. In this context the clamps are attached to the rudder. Were they to spring off, the rudder would become dislodged from the stern (Falk 1912, 77).
