[5] skrýtingr: Most likely the mistle thrush (Turdus viscivorus). The name is a hap. leg., but cf. ModEngl. (obsolete) shrite ‘thrush’. The name of the bird allegedly refers to its song (cf. ModNorw. skryte ‘boast, brag’; see ÍO: skrýtingur).
