Finnur Jónsson (LP: akri) suggests that akri is another term for sæðingr ‘gull’ (see st. 3/5 above). Alternatively, the word could be a short-form of ON akrhœna ‘partridge’ (ModDan. agerhøne, ModNorw. åkerhøne).
