[9] þenja (f.) ‘stretching one’: The heiti is derived from the weak verb þenja ‘stretch, extend’ (Falk 1914b, 115) and most likely denotes a very broad axe (cf. also SnE 1998, II, 433). This heiti does not appear in Old Norse poetry, but it is attested in the rímur (Finnur Jónsson 1926-8: þenja).
