Suðri: Lit. ‘southerly one’ or ‘one in the South’, from suðr ‘south’ (Gould 1929, 953). This is one of the dwarfs who hold up the sky. See Gylf (SnE 2005, 16) and Vsp 11/2 (NK 3): Norðri oc Suðri (see also Note to st. 1/8 above). Unlike most of the names in the present þula, this dwarf-name occurs in skaldic verse (LP: Suðri).
