[2] aldaþoptar ‘old rowing-mates’: A pl. form from ǫld ‘men’ (st. 3/1) and þopti (st. 6/7), perhaps the same as aldavinr ‘old friend’. The word does not otherwise occur in poetry. In Skm (SnE 1998, I, 107) it is listed among other terms for ‘friend’, most of which are mentioned in sts 6-7.
