[6-7] mætur unnasti guðs og hennar ‘the precious beloved of God and of her’: Hennar (gen. sg.) ‘of her’ is understood by Finnur Jónsson (Skj B) to refer to the Virgin Mary, but there is nothing that points to her in this st. Here hennar is understood to refer to Catherine, and the whole periphrasis of which hennar is part to refer to Christ as the bridegroom of the soul.
