[1] brynþings ‘of the byrnie-meeting’: 180b offers the alternative reading byrðings (m. gen. sg.) ‘of the ship’, giving the kenning beiðir byrðings ‘bidder/demander of the ship’, i.e. ‘seafarer’ (cf. Anon Pl 38/7VII).
