1. Skaldic Project Editors' Manual 1. Introduction to the project F. Authorship of the Manual

F. Authorship of the Manual

This is not currently part of the peer-reviewed material of the project. Do not cite as a research publication.

Although the Manual is a product of the joint thoughts and efforts of all five General Editors and Tarrin Wills, specific tasks have been undertaken by individuals. Diana Whaley is responsible for the major effort of assembling and articulating our collective views (and others we missed) in Chapters 2-4, most of 7, parts of 8 and Appendix 3. She also prepared the final version of Chapter 9, Sample Verses, and is responsible for the sample of Hallfreðr’s verses there. Tarrin Wills has revised Chapters 4 and 7 extensively for the second edition in order to incorporate instructions on how to present material in transcription and for electronic encoding. He has also done a good deal of editorial work for the second edition, and contributed Appendix 1 on the font ReykholtTimes, which he has created for the project, as well as appendix 2. Kari Gade wrote and revised Chapter 5 and contributed the sample from Sigvatr’s Bersǫglisvísur in Chapter 9. Guðrún Nordal wrote Chapter 6 and contributed some sample verses from Sturlunga saga. Edith Marold contributed the sample verses from Sólarljóð in Chapter 9 and gave advice concerning the runic material. Margaret Clunies Ross contributed the sample verses from Bragi’s Ragnarsdrápa in Chapter 9, wrote and revised the Introduction (Chapter 1), updated Chapter 8, revising the bibliographical guidelines from an original version by Kari Gade, checked final copy from all contributors and organised the production and printing of the Manual.
