Fjórum vetrum eftir fall Magnúss konungs fór Sigurður
konungur liði sínu úr Noregi. Þá hafði hann sex tigu skipa.
Svo segir Þórarinn stuttfeldur:
Svo kom fylkis
framt lið saman
margspaks mikið,
mildingi vilt,
að skip við skip
skarfögr við lög
hreins grams héðan
hnigu, sex tigir.
Sigurður konungur sigldi um haustið til Englands. Þá var þar
konungur Heinrekur sonur Vilhjálms bastarðs. Var Sigurður
konungur þar um veturinn.
Svo segir Einar Skúlason:
Vosöflugr réð vísi
vestr helmingi mestum.
Óð að ensku láði
ægis marr und harra.
Stál lét hilmir hvílast
heiftglaðr og var þaðra,
né gramr af val Vimrar,
vetrlengis, stígr betri.
