[2] hǫfundr ‘the judge’: Altered to hǫfuð ‘head’ in R (R*). Hǫfundr ‘judge’ is a fairly uncommon word (Fritzner: höfundr). It is an old pres. part. of the strong verb hefja ‘lift, elevate, begin’.
