Tantológía er þat, ef hin sama sǫgn er optar tekin en til heyrir eða hin sama merking sem Sneglu-Halli kvað:
Svá lét und sik
lǫnd ǫll lagið
Hér eru ii. kenningar konungs til hins sama máls; þat kǫllum vér ofkent.
Tautologia occurs if the same word or idea is repeated unnecessarily, as Sneglu-Halli said: [...] Here there are two kennings for ''king" in the same sentence, and we call that ofkent ("superfluous kenning").
