‘“Leiða skal eg þig, Máría móðir
mín, í dýrð”, kvað skepnu tínir,
“heiðr og vald og í himna prýði
hæsta; skipa eg þig mier næsta.”
Meiri dýrð þá eg miklu af hirði
mána bryggju, en nokkurt hyggi
mannligt brjóst, þó margt gott kunni’;
mætust talar svá himnesk sæta.

‘“I shall lead you, my mother Mary,” said {the mover of creation}, [= God (= Christ)] “into glory, honour and might and into the highest splendour of the heavens; I place you next to me.” I received much more glory from {the guardian {of the pier of the moon}} [= God (= Christ) > ] than any human breast may imagine, although it may know much good’; thus speaks {the most magnificent heavenly lady}. [= Mary]
