‘Guð stie upp af grýttu láði
gæzkufimr á bjarta himna;
lofaður sitr um aldr og æfi
eilífr á veg skepnu deilir.
Ítarligr kom mier á móti
minn son guð með allri sinni
hirð ágætri himna dýrðar;
* hóf mig upp á sínum lófa.

‘Merciful [lit. goodness-deft] God ascended from the graveled ground into the bright heavens; {the eternal, praised ordainer of creation} [= God (= Christ)] sits forever and ever in glory. My magnificent son, God, came to meet me with {all his famous retinue of the splendour of the heavens}; [ANGELS] he lifted me up in his palm.

notes: [1-5]: This is the fourth supreme joy of Mary, her Ascension, see Note to 41/3. — [2-3]: These ll. recall Leið 17/4 and Lil 1/7. — [5-8]: The Assumption of Mary is her fifth supreme joy.
