Lýsa vilda eg lofandi glós*um
líf ágætra dýrðarvífa,
drottinn várr með hverjum hætti
huldi þær í krafti skærum.
Mildliga skín yfir meyjum öllum
meyligt blóm hins hæsta sóma;
Máría sjálf er drotning dýrust;
dýran fæddi hun himna stýri.

I wanted to describe in laudatory words the lives of excellent women of glory [and] in what manner our Lord enveloped them with a shining power. The maidenly flower of the highest honour shines gracefully over all maidens; Mary herself is the most glorious queen; she gave birth to {the glorious ruler of the heavens}. [= God (= Christ)]
