Þrifu þeir þjóðgóðan,
þá var kostr engi
rekkum rakklátum
ráð enn lengr dvelja;
hló þá Högni,
heyrðu dagmegir,
keppa hann svá kunni,
kvöl hann vel þolði.   (eddic or germanic)

(Then they seized that great man, there was no chance
for the stout-hearted warriors to delay their action longer.
Hogni laughed then so that the sons of day heard it,*
he knew how to show his mettle and endured the torture well.
