Morgin mest vágu

flóði völlr blóði;
átján áðr fellu,
efri þeir urðu,
Beru tveir sveinar
ok bróðir hennar.   (eddic or germanic)

(They fought most of the morning until midday came and went,
all the dawn and the early day.
Before they’d fought to the end, the ground was awash with blood;
eighteen, before they fell, they had overcome,
Kostbera’s two boys and her brother.
