Sá þá sælborin
að þeir sárt léku,
ok hrauðsk ór skikkju,
nökkðan tók hon mæki
ok niðja fjör varði,
hæg var að hjaldri
hvars hon hendr festi. (eddic or germanic)
(Then the high-born lady saw them play a wounding game,
she resolved on a hard course and flung off her cloak;
she took a naked sword and fought for her kinsmen’s lives,
she was easy with fighting, wherever she turned her hand.
