Svá var gört að skornar vóru sinar íknésfótum ok settr íhólm einn er þar var fyr landi er hét Sævarstaðr. Þar smíðaði hann konungi allz kyns gjörsimar. Engi maðr þorði að fara til hans nema konungr einn. Völundr kvað:
(Thus it was done: the sinews were cut through at the back of his knees and he was put on an island, near the land, called Sævarstad. There he made all kinds of treasures for the king. No man dared go to him except the king alone.
