Þó munuef þat er satt,
þá ferr illa —
hafa allir alkeypt
ár, þá er kemr vár.

Still all will have paid very dearly for the year when spring comes; if that is true, then things will turn out badly.

context: This four-line stanza is a continuation of the merman’s prophecy in the preceding stanza and may be considered its concluding statement. It is followed by the words: þá lét Hjörleifr kóngr hann utan borðs ‘Then king Hjǫrleifr put him overboard’.

notes: The stanza is again highly irregular metrically, and Þó munu ‘Still will’ of l. 1 is extrametrical.
