Slíkt kennir mér
at sofa lítit
marga grímu
ok mjök vaka:
er bróðir minn
brenna skyldi
kvikr í eldi
með konungs rekkum.

This causes me to sleep little many a night and wake much: that my brother should burn alive in the fire with the king’s champions.

notes: With this stanza Hrókr begins to express his feelings of grief for the loss of his brother and his king, and his desire to take vengeance for their deaths. — [1-2]: Similar phrasing in MBerf Lv 3/5, 8II is attributed to a man’s desire for a woman.
