context: Friðþjófr and his men learn that Helgi and Hálfdan and their entourage are at Baldrshagi engaged in sacrifice to the dísir (at dísablóti, so the B text; A text has ok blótuðu ‘and they were sacrificing’). Friðþjófr decides to enter the sanctuary alone, and tells his men to keep watch, speaking this stanza.
