Prolemsis er uppnumning margfalligra hluta þeira, er síðan eru einfalliga greindir, sem hér er kveðit:

Flugu hrafnar tveir
af Hnikars ǫxlum
Huginn til hanga
en á hræ Muninn.
Hér er þetta orð, flugu, margfalliga sett í hinum fyrrum vísu-orðum ok skal svá upp taka málit, tveir hrafnar flugu af ǫxlum Hnikars, Huginn flaug til hanga en Muninn til hræs.

Prolepsis is the enumeration of plural objects, which later are mentioned singly, as here: [...] Here the word fiugu is used in the plural in the first two lines but it governs two single nouns in the two final lines. A. prose rendering would be: "Tveir hrafnar flugu af ǫxlum Hnikars, Huginn flaug til hanga en Muninn til hræs."
