Um stundar afdrátt verðr barbarismus sem hér:
Svanr þyrr beint til benja
blóðs vindara róðri
Hér er vindara sett fyrir vindára róðri þat er flugr. Þessi samstafa er skǫmm gǫr fyrir fegrðar sakir, þvíat þá hljóðar betr. Þar er ok sú skáldskapargrein, er jafnan þykkir vel koma ok menn kalla ofljóst.
BarbariStnUs occurs in subtraction of length, as here: [...] Here vindara (gen. ''wind eagle") is put for vindára róðri ("rowing or wind oars"), that is to say, flight. This syllable is made short for the sake of euphony, There also occurs here that species or poetical diction which is called ofljóst ("pun") and which is often considered to be appropriate.
