Umbeygilig hljóðsgrein er sú, er hefz af lítillátu hljóði ok þenz upp sem hvǫss hljóðsgrein, en fellr niðr at lyktum sem þung svá, sem þetta nafn: hraustr.
(A circumflex accent is that which starts from a low sound and is stretched up like an acute accent, but falls down at the end like a grave accent, like this word: ‘hraustr’ (strong, brave).)
