Fyrir Máríu faðminn dýra,
fyrir Máríu grátinn sára,
lát mig þinnar lausnar njóta,
lifandi guð með feðr og anda.
Æfinliga með lyftum lófum,
lof ræðandi, á knie sín bæði
skepnan öll er skyld falla,
skapari minn, fyrir ásjón þinni.

For the sake of Mary’s precious embrace, for the sake of Mary’s sorrowful weeping, let me experience your salvation, living God with Father and Spirit. Unceasingly, with lifted hands, uttering praise, all creation should fall on both its knees, my creator, before your face.

notes: [5-8]: The first repeat of the second stef, introduced at st. 51. The text is abbreviated in Bb, 99a, 622, 713 and 705ˣ, and written in full in the other mss.

editions: Skj Eysteinn Ásgrímsson: Lilja 57 (AII, 381-2; BII, 405); Skald II, 221.
