Aldri láttu, mær mild,
mig, ef eg bið þig,
fyrir víti var ljót
verða með svikaferð.
Því æsti eg þig trausts;
þú hjálp mier við nú,
seggja — em eg Drótt dygg,
djarfastr — er eg mjög þarf.

Never let me, gentle maiden, become a shelter for hideous sins with multitudes of deceits, if I petition you. Therefore I ask you for support; help me now, when I need [it] greatly; I am very arrogant, {faithful Drótt of men}. [= Mary]
