[7] leiptrhrjóðr (m.) ‘lightning-coverer’: It is not clear whether this is a cpd (if so, it is not attested elsewhere) or two separate heiti, leiptr ‘lightning’ (or ‘brightness’) and Hrjóðr. Although the heiti is spelled as two single words in the mss of the þulur and in the corresponding list of heaven-heiti in Skm (SnE 1998, I, 85), the reading leiptrhrjóðr may be preferable since Hrjóðr is mentioned in the previous line. Cf. also leiptr, hrjóðr ‘lightning, coverer’ in Þul Sólar l. 3 (see Note there).
