This couplet (Anon (Hhárf)) about an event in Orkney c. 900 is preserved in Orkn as well as in Hhárf in Hkr, in the mss listed below; 332ˣ is the main ms. The lines are anonymous in all mss. The metre is an irregular variant of dróttkvætt. The odd line lacks internal rhyme and the even line has skothending rather than aðalhending (-orf- : -urf-). In Ht, this variant verse form is called munnvǫrp ‘mouth-throwings’, i.e. improvisations (see SnSt Ht 66III, SnE 2007, 28).
