These two dróttkvætt helmingar by Þorvaldr blǫnduskáld (Þblǫnd Sigdr) are found in Skm (SnE). They are not assigned to a specific poem in the mss but have been joined to form a fragment of a putative Sigurðardrápa ‘Drápa about Sigurðr’ by earlier editors (Skj; Skald; SnE 1998), and this is adopted here. The name of the poem stems from the fact that Skáldatal (SnE 1848-87, III, 254, 263, 276) lists Þorvaldr as one of the poets of Sigurðr jórsalafari ‘Jerusalem-farer’ (d. 1130) and from the content of the stanzas: st. 1 is directly addressed to a king and his retinue, while st. 2 praises the generosity of a king. If the attribution is correct, the poem cannot be later than 1130. The relevant mss for this edition are the SnE mss R (main ms.), Tˣ, W and U for both stanzas with the addition of A, B and C for st. 2.
