Þórólfr sails to Iceland to settle there. Before he lands at the shore, he throws his highseat pillars with a carved image of the god Þórr into the sea. He follows the pillars and settles on the land where they strand. Þórólfr builds his farm and a big temple, names a holy mountain for the dead to dwell in, establishes a district assembly and places of sacrifice on the land he calles Þórsnes.

context
The narrative of Landnámabók is set in the late 9th/early 10th century where people from mainly Norse cultures leave their homelands and sail to Iceland in the north west to settle. Landnámabók survives in 5 medieval manuscripts all dating to late 13th century and later. Sturlubók by Sturla Þórðarson, Hauksbók by Haukr Erlendsson (based on Sturlubók and a lost version by Styrmir Kárason), Melabók, Skarðsárbók and Þórðarbók.
