The god Þórr goes to fight the World Serpent (Miðgarðsormr), rowing out to sea with the giant Hymir, baiting the serpent with an ox-head on a fishing line, and attempting to strike it with his hammer before it escapes.

In Snorra Edda, this story appears directly after the Útgarðaloki episode and is presented as Þórr’s revenge for being tricked.
