Þá svarar Hrungnir ok sér ekki vinaraugum til Þórs, sagði at Óðinn bauð honum til drykkju ok hann var á hans griðum. Þá mælir Þórr at þess boðs skal Hrungnir iðrask áðr hann komi út. Hrungnir segir at Ásaþór er þat lítill frami at drepa hann vápnlausan; hitt er meiri hugraun ef hann þorir berjask við at landamæri á Grjótúnagǫrðum.
