Sumar þetta komu af Íslandi, að orðsending Ólafs konungs, Steinn sonur Skafta lögsögumanns, Þóroddur sonur Snorra goða, Gellir sonur Þorkels, Egill sonur Síðu-Halls, bróðir Þorsteins. Guðmundur Eyjólfsson hafði andast áður um veturinn.

Þeir hinir íslensku menn fóru þegar á fund Ólafs konungs er þeir máttu við komast. En er þeir hittu konung fengu þeir þar góðar viðtökur og voru allir með honum.

Það sama sumar spurði Ólafur konungur að skip það var horfið er hann hafði sent til Færeyja eftir skatti hið fyrra sumar og það hafði hvergi til landa komið svo að spurt væri. Konungur fékk þá til skip annað og þar menn með og sendi til Færeyja eftir skatti. Fóru þeir menn og létu í haf en síðan spurðist ekki til þeirra heldur en til hinna fyrri. Og voru þar margar getur á hvað af skipum þeim mundi orðið.
