2. Examination of mss

This is not currently part of the peer-reviewed material of the project. Do not cite as a research publication.

Editors will examine the manuscripts either ‘in the flesh’, in facsimile, or in the form of digitised images on the project’s web site (see >> 1. Introduction 4). Where critical editions exist which are known to have a reliable and comprehensive treatment of the mss, these may be used in the early stages of editing the skaldic verses, but the manuscripts should always be checked before the final editorial decisions are made.
